Information about course and training objectives: The full and short Lymphoedema training course content and lectures are up to date and current. The latest update for these courses was made in February 2012. They are developed and delivered by experienced instructors or therapists. Course content is based on the Casley-Smith Method of Complex Lymphatic Therapy. All students/participants learn specific professional skills and are provided research information to make positive judgment within their application of learned knowledge.

FULL 3 Day Training Course 

The full three (3) day training courses are suitable for professionals to learn effective complex physical therapy lymphatic drainage massage, bandaging and compression garment techniques to use in a professional setting. Courses are very suitable for Remedial therapists,  Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Professional Massage therapists, Nurses and Naturopaths wanting to know more and gain an introduction that can be immediately implemented as a complete integrated package about the specific management of lymphoedema and oedema reduction. The course is current with the latest update in February 2012.

A certificate is awarded on successful completion of the course.

NEW Short 2 Day Training Course 

The NEW short two (2) day training courses are suitable for professionals who only wish to learn effective complex physical therapy lymphatic drainage massage to use in a professional setting where compression therapy is not a requirement of treatment. Courses are very suitable for Remedial therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Professional Massage therapists, Nurses and Naturopaths wanting to know more and gain an introduction about the specific management of oedema control where compression therapy is not a requirement of ongoing care. The course is current with the latest update in February 2012.

A certificate is awarded on successful completion of the course.

About the Massage for lymphoedema course segment:
The lymphatic drainage massage segment of both the two or three day courses teaches very simply how massage for lymphoedema using the Casley-Smith Method of the Principles and Practice of Complex Physical (Lymphatic) Therapy (CPT) is performed on a client by a therapist or carer for legs or arms, facial oedema, oedema of the neck, genital oedema and oedema of the chest and torso.

The whole course contains a component of 'need to know theory'. The pre reading supplied as part of the courses allows self-paced reading prior to attendance to lean the essential theory. The training days feature a large component of hands on work with theory summarized before each hands on session. The course is current with the latest update in February 2012. The Pre reading information supplied as part of the course provides much of the need to know theory. The balance of required theory is explained at the beginning of each day and at other times during the course delivery.

A Certificate of attendance and completion awarded at end of the course.

This part of the full three day course teaches the principles of Complex Physical (Lymphatic) Therapy (CPT) for bandaging a leg or arm for lymphoedema and lipoedema. 

This 'hands on' part of the course is most suitable for professionals. No prior experience is necessary. The hands on course shows the bandaging techniques almost anyone can perform for lymphoedema and lipoedema. The course is current with the latest update in February 2012..

Professionals will find this a most beneficial course when needing to know the exact special techniques for lymphoedema and lipoedema bandaging. 

The pre-reading information supplied as part of the course provides the need to know theory. The balance of required practical knowledge is explained at the beginning of each day and at other times during the course delivery. About the Measuring and Fitting Compression Garments for lymphoedema course segment:
This part of the full three day course teaches the principles of Complex Physical (Lymphatic) Therapy (CPT) for measuring and fitting gradient compression garments for an arm or leg for lymphoedema and lipoedema.  The course is current with the latest update in February 2012.

This is a 'hands on' practical course is suitable for professionals only. No prior experience is necessary. The course explains and shows the techniques you need to decide the most appropriate compression garment for your client. You learn which garment is in theory the best choice and how to measure and fit compression garments for lymphoedema and lipoedema. Professionals will find this a most beneficial course as similar principles additionally apply to compression garments for venous oedema too. 

A Certificate of attendance and completion awarded at end of the course.

Shuttle Bus Airport Transport to and from  the venue.

Shuttle bus service is normally around $100.00 for the return trip (door to door from airport to the the Venue and back to the airport). Service is pleasant and the drivers are very helpful.

We start and finish courses on time so you can make your travel arrangements with confidence. Courses finish at 3.30pm on the final day. On the first and second day course will finish at approximately 4:30 pm

It takes approx a 1 hour travel (or a little less) to and from the airport depending on traffic.

Most people fly in on the morning of their first day, stay one or two nights at a motel and will travel home the evening they complete the final day of their course.

The shuttle bus is located near the Sydney Airport Domestic Terminal buildings . It takes around 1 minute to walk from the baggage pickup area at either domestic terminal to reach the shuttle bus waiting area. 

For Qantas passengers, turn right when leaving the baggage pickup doors and walk to the shuttle bus waiting area.

For Virgin and Jetstar passengers, turn left when leaving the baggage pickup doors and walk to the shuttle bus waiting area.

Courses finish at 3.30pm on the final day.

 

Educational information 
The course teaches Physiotherapists, OT's, Remedial Massage Therapists, Nurses, Naturopaths or those training for these professions. Pre reading materials at post graduate level are included and supplied as part of the course.

Due to the fact many people of differing education levels and need attend the courses, to ensure real usable information is provided to everyone, we summarize theory at the beginning of the day to ensure physiological actions and theoretical object of treatment for lymphoedema and lipoedema is understood to the required level of need by all participants.

We find most Allied health care professionals, Remedial Massage Therapists, Naturopaths and Natural Therapists already have a good base understanding of the required physiological concepts and are easily able to understand the principles of lymphatic therapy as it is explained.

Once theoretical knowledge is established at the relevant levels of each participant, then practical work is more easily implemented, understood and retained.

The approved and certified education training course for teaching the treatment of lymphoedema incorporates professional post graduate level knowledge and information to achieve identifiable goals.  

All knowledge, demonstrations and learning experiences, theoretical and practical, provide the potential to enable a student undertaking lymphoedema training to be fully operational by implementation of this information and knowledge at graduation.  

Practical sessions allow hands on training leading to the development of advanced interactive problem solving techniques. Post graduate theory is further advanced and consolidated with group problem solving workshops.  

Lymphoedema training courses are designed to impart knowledge using the results of professional theoretical and applied research. The curriculum is based on the approved method of Complex (lymphatic) Physical Therapy (CPT).

Education training curriculum for the treatment for lymphoedema is developed with a broad attainable skill level in mind. At completion of the course instruction and training, the student is expected to attain and possess the skills to further develop their practical treatment protocols and be theoretically competent to provide initial assessment and ongoing treatment.
